We flew to Virginia for this session and would do it again in a heart beat. Danielle and Joshua were two of the most kind-hearted and loving people we have had the pleasure of working with. If we every moved to Virginia we know exactly who we would call to hang out with! Take a look at their day before session!

From start to finish Christina and Greydon's wedding was centered around their love for Jesus and one another. From praise and worship during their ceremony to the details around their reception showing their entire relationship, these two really thought things through to make their wedding a special day for themselves and those around them. Not only was their wedding sentimental but it was a hoot! A choreographed sibling dance to "Uptown Funk" is always the way to spice things up at the reception! Christina and Greydon did not disappoint in any area. Check it out!

Family photos are so much fun, especially when we get to take them at the Houston Yacht Club. Getting to know a new family is always a blast! The Keenan's have a rich family history at the Club and it was an honor to document their family. Take a look at their session!

Studying together in "Club Moody," catching some sun outside the SUB, and walking hand in hand to class outside of Old Main, anyone who had a Baylor romance may remember having these sweet moments with your college sweetheart. Rosie and Jean Michael wanted to return to the place where their love started for their engagement session. Even though their careers have taken them far from Baylor University, they couldn't think of a more perfect place to document their pending marriage. We can never say no to a road trip back to BU! Sic' Em!

For this session we traveled from flat Houston, TX to the Rocky Mountains and back down to Denver, CO. There are no words to describe the adventure that was had with Bunmi and Joyce. Driving up to the Rocky Mountains was frightening! The whole way up we were staring at the thermometer go from 65 Degrees, down to 29 Degrees in less than 15 minutes. We weren't expecting the cold, but Bunmi and Joyce were troopers! Afterwards, we headed to the city for the urban portion of the session. After warming up a bit, we had an awesome downtown session in the city of Denver. This engagement was one of our fave's. How could it not be with such a variety! Check it out!

Christina's wedding was yesterday and we are stoked that we can finally share her bridal session! This girl was one of the sweetest brides we have had the pleasure of working with. Her kind and loving spirit was evident on her wedding day and all through out the day of her bridal session and engagement session with Graydon. It was an honor to be there every step of the way for her leading up to her wedding day. Take a look at her White Rock Lake bridal session!
]]>
Complete with Dublin Dr. Pepper and a visit from Bruiser, this wedding said Sic' Em loud and clear! Derek and Veronicka work at Baylor University so they had to include the school in their big day. Veronicka was all smiles her entire wedding day. Everyone surrounding this couple could see their joy on this day. Take a look below, don't just take our word for it!
]]>
Charbone is such a sweet bride. We had to think of something special for her bridal portraits. We decided that the Hampton Estate, where I had my wedding and bridal portraits, was the perfect fit. We weren't wrong! Her bridal portraits turned out so lovely! We love that we can offer sweet locations that haven't been used before! Check out her gorgeous session.
]]>
I love it when we get to shoot fun graduation sessions with awesome people! Ambreea and I had a blast exploring campus and getting some great shots. It's inspiring to see other women achieving the goals they have set for themselves. Hard work and endurance pays off! Ambreea is a testament to hard work and was absolutely radiant during her session. Check it out!

When you think of a fun wedding, these two had it! Chanel and Brent along with their friends and family danced the night away with their 2nd line band. From start to finish every detail of their wedding was perfect. See for yourself!
]]>
These two were a blast to hang out with. Let's not forget how adorable of a couple they are! They doted on one another during their entire session. Josh and I felt like we were flies on the wall watching their love. It was a sweet day. Take a peak at their session.
]]>
This senior session was one of the coolest we've had! From a polished hotel in Downtown Houston to graffiti filled walls and Derrick's hot car. Derrick's mom made a few appearances as well, which made this session extra special. Take a look at his senior session!
]]>
This sweet e-session had two parts! Part one was set in a sweet diner, and part two was set near the scenic Rice University. Both parts were equally a blast. Natasha and Cruce are hilarious and we can definitely see what drew them to each other. Cruce is probably the most funny person we've ever shot. And Natasha is the sweetest thing since Homemade Vanilla Blue Bell ice cream. And, who doesn't love Blue Bell?? Take a look at their lovely session.
]]>
Linh and Tho are a quiet couple, but their love for one another in the way they interact speaks for itself. During their session they were filled with soft giggles and intimate embraces. Then, when they decided to bring change into traditional Vietnamese clothing, my heart almost leapt for joy at how stunning they looked. Take a look at their sweet e-session.
]]>
Get a load of this gorgeous family! The Saunders family is super stylish and pretty amazing. They rolled with the punches through a little dirt, grass, and gators! Take a look at their session.
]]>
Any girl would be lucky to have a proposal this sweet. Erika was that lucky girl this time around! Glenn had the perfect idea of what he wanted and with the help of friends and family he was able to pull it off. Erika was so ecstatic to be Glenn's fiancé that she had to be reminded to look at her ring! Take a look at her incredible ring and their proposal story below.
]]>
Rebecca and Ralph met on Black Friday. Ralph couldn't leave the store Rebecca was working at without her on his arm. He won her over and the rest is history. We had a blast documenting their sweet love for one another. They are infatuated with each other and we think that's a pretty great start for a marriage. Take a look at their dock engagement session!
]]>
Cassie and David had us in stitches during their session. Cassie's laughter is contagious! She even laughed at our corny jokes. And, if you've had a session with us, you know how corny our jokes are. Take a look at their bubbly session!
]]>
Melanie and Jeremiah knew that they wanted something a little different for their engagement photos. They didn't want the typical outdoor portrait session. So, we scoured Houston to find the perfect location for them. This warehouse turned out to be exactly what they were looking for. Melanie and Jeremiah came equipped with outfit changes, laughs, and top notch personalities. We had a blast during their engagement session and are happy to share their E-Session!

We do crazy things to catch some good light! Including but not limited to, waking up at the crack of dawn and going out in thirty degree weather to have a great portrait session of a cute little dancer. Even though her fingers were almost frostbitten, she smiled (and danced) through her entire session. Here's a little taste of her adorable session in downtown Houston.

What started out as a rainy day ended as one of prettiest weddings we've had the privilege of photographing. Complete with a pie bar, loads of dancing, and a stunning bride and groom, Tori and Chad's wedding was wondrous. Tori's mom is a craft queen! We swooned over all of her calligraphy as well the adorable details she put together. Take a look at Tori and Chad's new years day wedding.

We are delighted to post this amazing event hosted by Houston's own Darryl Wilson of D'Concierge Wedding Planning. When Darryl emailed us and asked Joshua and I to photograph internationally acclaimed celebrity wedding designer, Diann Valentine as she presents a sneak peek of her signature wedding cuff collection at La Reve Bridal Couture in Houston, TX, we were bubbling with excitement and so grateful that he would think of us to photograph such a wonderful woman and an equally as wonderful and important event. From the start of the day, working with celebrity wedding photographer Keith Cephus during his amazing photo shoot with Diann showcasing her cuffs, to the final second of the event was a dream come true. We learned so much and gained so much confidence working with some of the top wedding professionals in the industry!
From spreads in Brides Magazine, InStyle, USA Today, and Essence, to giving wedding and event planning tips on "E! News," "ABC's InStyle Celbrity Weddings Special" Entertainment Tonight," "CNN," and "HGTV," Diann Valentine is a force to be reckoned with. Currently residing in Los Angeles, Valentine has been the creative mastermind behind many of Hollywood's most incredible weddings.
As the wedding industry evolves and as Diann evolves as a designer, she has conceived the bridal cuff as the perfect accent to the bride's gown. "As a bride makes her way down the aisle, her flowers should be a beautiful accent to her gown and not an enormous barrier that blocks everyone’s view of her couture masterpiece," Valentine says. While maintaining the use of beautiful flowers and providing an alternative to the bouquet, the bridal cuff allows an all-access view of the entire wedding gown.
Valentine's portfolio includes the weddings of Kelis and Nas, Usher, Chante Moore, Martin Lawrence, NBA players Jimmy Jackson and Eric Williams, and even the short marriage of Evelyn Lozada and Chad "Ocho Cinco" Johnson, plus many more.
Darryl Wilson of D'Concierge was the amazing mastermind behind this wonderful event. Rallying Houston's best vendors, he created an experience to showcase Diann Valentine's signature cuffs.
D’Concierge is Houston, Texas’ premiere, luxury wedding planning firm, which provides a personalized platform in order to ensure that every wedding is a reflection of the couple’s personal style with elegance and grandeur. D'Concierge's ultimate mission in planning weddings is to mirror unique personality and aesthetic preferences, giving the bride & groom and their wedding guests a riveting experience from the ceremony to the reception.

]]>LeTitia's and J.Wayne's wedding day was joyous and filled with celebration. We have never seen a bride so ecstatic to be her groom's wife. It was an experience that we as photographers will never forget. Titia has done my makeup for every milestone in my life. Proms, pageants, my wedding, you name it, she has been there. So, it was a joy to be there for her on her wedding day. J.Wayne is a blessed man. Those who have the pleasure of knowing Titia are blessed. And, we hope you will be blessed by looking through the photos of Titia and J.Wayne's big day. Enjoy!

Our bride Tori got married on New Year's Day! We are stoked that we can finally show off her fantastic bridal session at the Dallas Arboretum! Tori's bridal session wasn't only fabulous because it included her grandmother's vintage fur stole, but because it was full of energy. Tori danced, ran, jumped, and twirled around just to get the perfect shot. I think we succeeded. Let's wish her a congratulations on her sweet new marriage and a Happy New Year!

Engagement photos are a funny thing. It always takes a couple a few minutes to loosen up and be themselves. Crystal and Josh's nervous giggles disappeared after a few minutes and they quickly cuddled up to one another and got to being the adorable and loving couple that we discovered them to be. We can't wait to shoot their wedding! But, for now, take a look at their "lovey-dovey" E-Session.

It's always an amazing experience when we can capture friends that we love, and those they love, on camera. Jeremy has been a long time friend of Joshua and I and we were stoked when he let us know he wanted us to capture his special day with his lovely bride Jacoyia. It was a perfect day with beautiful weather and the most captivating sunset. Take a look at Jeremy and Jacoyia's delightful wedding day.

This was definitely one of our more adventurous sessions! We witnessed an engagement and got kicked off of a dock! But, we still managed to get some absolutely breath-taking photos of Ashley and Courtney! They may be graduating from different schools but their bond is evident. Take a look at their session below.
]]>
We've said it before and we'll say it again....we love fall! And, we love photographing beautiful graduates! We are so excited to have had the opportunity to photograph some of our dear friends and Crystal is definitely one of them. Check out Crystal's pretty fall session below.

Our beautiful friend Eshe is graduating this December! Besides her magnetic personality and charismatic nature, she is also super stunning! We had a great time playing with sparklers and finding some unique spots in waco. Take a look at her session!

Nothing screams Christmas like Christmas trees! So, when the Lohman's contacted us about their family photos we had the perfect place to take them. This beautiful Christmas tree farm in Magnolia, TX put us in the mood for the season as soon as we drove in. The Lohman's were bubbly and full of love for one another. Check out their session below!

Cayla and her precious puppy kept us bubbling with laughter during their session. We had a great time getting to know her while capturing this special time in her life! Check out Cayla's Sam Houston State graduation session!

Amari was such a sweetheart, which wasn't surprising since her parents were so amazing too. This little girl was a bundle of joy. Even though at times she got a little scared of the butterfly's, she conquered her fears and happily sailed through her session. Take a look at this pretty girl's butterfly garden shoot.

We love outfit changes. So, when we found out Brittney and Helawi would be changing into traditional Ethiopian clothing, we couldn't have been more excited. They looked absolutely magical and we had a blast capturing how magical their relationship truly is. Their love for one another is apparent in the way they so naturally relax around each other. Take a look at Brittney and Helawi's engagement session!

We are absolutely stoked to finally show off our first styled shoot. We took our inspiration from a beautiful ranch in Houston, TX and ran with it. Our model Faith was absolutely glowing and it was a blast styling her wardrobe, hair, and makeup. We couldn't have done it with out our fantastic makeup artists from Double Dutch Inc. and the use of a few astoundingly beautiful horses courtesy of our amazing model. Please enjoy our equestrian inspired styled shoot!

Karson was the most delightful child we have had the pleasure of photographing. Besides from being naturally friendly, he was always giving us a gummy grin. We had the pleasure of photographing his mother Cherise on her wedding day and it was an honor to have been her photographer through wedding, maternity, and now the big ONE of Karson's first birthday! Kudo's to Karson's mommy on all of his adorable outfits!

It's a beautiful experience when we can photograph weddings involving different cultures. Apart from being down-right fun, it's eye-opening to see the different ways that brides and grooms tie-the-knot. Whether it's a three day long ceremony, or a city hall elopement, the love that is shared between two people saying their vows is the same. Take a look at Harsha and Neel's beautiful wedding that we had the wonderful opportunity of photographing a few weeks ago.

Alfred has always been the life of the party. His charismatic spirit draws others to him and brings those around him joy. Taking his portraits was a delight! We had a blast and couldn't be more excited to share them! Take a look.

When "Aunt Shell" called us saying that she wanted family portraits with her sister and nephew, we couldn't have been more excited. She has been in my life since before I was born and it was an honor to work with her! She kept us snickering the entire time and the entire experience was filled with joy and laughter. Take a look at these sweet family portraits.

Looking into the mirror on the morning of her wedding, our bride Amanda exclaimed, "I just want to SPARKLE!" And, boy, did she! Amanda turned out to be one of the most beautiful brides we have ever seen. Every part of Michael and Amanda's wedding day was filled with the love that they have for one another. And, not only the love they have for one another, but the love they have for God. As photographers and also an engaged couple, it is inspiring for us to see a young couple so in love with God and each other. In was an honor to serve with with photography and videography on their wedding day. Take a look at Michael and Amanda's sweet wedding.

We have had the sweet opportunity of photographing our bride Jacquel through her entire bridal experience. From engagements to her bridal session, and now the wedding, documenting her love story from beginning to end was truly a treat. Everything about Jacquel and Dennis's wedding day was personal and unique to them. We can't express with words how excited we are to debut her wedding day photos.

"Prom Pictures" won't be the same again! When Aleiss' mom called us about a prom photo session, we knew this could be a something special. I've heard rumors that Baylor's Nursing School is pretty tough. So, when Jasmine told us she would be graduating this semester from Nursing School we were immediately impressed. We definitely got a chance to explore Baylor's campus a little more when we roamed over to the Baylor Sciences Building. We found a spot we didn't even know existed! Did anyone else know that the Baylor Sciences Building had a small garden? Who knew! Take a look at Jasmine's graduation session.

Do you guy's remember Angel T. from yesterday's post? Well, we didn't tell you that her and her best friend Courtney F. had a double shoot! Courtney is so easy going and fun. We wanted to make sure that even though they were receiving a "double shoot" their photos were unique and different. I think we succeeded! We were so excited with the outcome we just had to share. Here is Courtney F.

We can't deny that when a graduate tells us she wants to go off campus for her portraits, we get pretty excited. Baylor's campus is absolutely beautiful... but so are lots of other places in Waco, TX, like the suspension bridge! It was so refreshing to get off of campus and get inspired by the change of scenery. Angel was willed with so much energy and we had a great time switching things up. Here's our sweet session with Angel!

We are so excited to post this blog. Why? Because we love it when we can shoot our friends! Vannessa is a Baylor Bear just like us. It's always wonderful when we can go back our campus and shoot the people we went to class with. We were all so nervous about this shoot because the weather forecast didn't want to cooperate! There was only a prediction of rain. But, we hiked to Waco, TX anyway in faith that it would clear up. And, WALA! We had a chilly, but beautiful day to take Vanessa's portraits. Check it out below!

Last weekend my family and I said our last goodbye to a pillar in our family, John C. Cooks, my grandfather, known as "Paw Paw." Paw Paw was a man of consistency. He was a God fearing man who loved his wife, family, and the Church. He will forever be a role model, and his legacy will live on. The passing of my grandfather hit close to home as he is the first person in my immediate family whom I've had to say goodbye to.
Naturally, my emotions were scattered. It has always been difficult for me decipher my emotions. However, I knew I wanted to spend time with my widowed grandmother. So,we did the only thing I knew to do. We had a portrait session. Possibly the greatest portrait session I will ever have. I learned so much during this session. I learned about true love. Even in the time of mourning, my Granny continually expressed her love towards my Paw Paw.
My grandmother is a strong woman. I was hesitant to ask her if she would take a few portraits soon after such a life changing event, but she was proud to have one last portrait session with her husband. I usually capture new love with my lens as I shoot engagement portraits and weddings. But, it was rewarding to capture a seasoned love, one that endured the test of time.
I also experienced how invaluable a photograph can be. The only thing left we have of our loved ones once they are gone, are photographs. This last photo of my grandparents together will forever be cherished in my family.
Lastly, I learned about myself. I learned it’s ok to be sad sometimes, it’s ok to experience an uncomfortable moment. When singers feel a certain way they sing. When writers feel a certain way, they write. I am a photographer, so when I feel a certain way, I capture those emotions with my camera. As a photographer it's easy for me to get caught up in pleasing the client. It was refreshing to feel the moment and spend quality time with my grandmother as we took portraits to honor Paw Paw.
This portrait session is one of my greatest because of what I learned from it. The session provided emotional healing for me as I said my last goodbye to my Paw Paw.
I encourage you all to take portraits with your family as often as possible and cherish them, many possessions can be replaced. However, the power of a memorable photograph is a belonging that is irreplaceable.

This engagement session was so much fun! Jacquel and Dennis were old friends who reconnected through the popular game "Words With Friends." It was a blast being able to incorporate that part of their love story into these sweet photos. Their love for each other is apparent and it shines through all of their photos... along with the help of the sun. Enjoy!

Savion Wright, an American Idol contestant this year had his debut last night on National Television! We were so proud to watch him knowing that he came from our very own Baylor University. We at Pharris Photography had the opportunity to take some great shots of Savion and his guitar while we were there. We remember Savion singing in almost every open mic on campus. And, whenever he did there was a full house!
Congratulations on making it to Hollywood and good luck!

We were so ecstatic to be apart of the Rowe wedding. Their December wedding was chilly but definitely warmed by the love of Jessica and Barry. Being able to take great shots of them getting ready and follow them through their special day was truly a gift and a great way to wrap up our 2013 wedding season. We can't wait to see what the new year holds for Pharris Photography weddings, but it was an honor to close out the year with this beautiful one!
